The Fast & The Festivus Puppet Slam - Adult Oriented content for the Big Kids

Saturday, December 13, 2024 at 8 pm PST

The Lowdown:

Working on a new puppet piece? Got a puppet experiment to try in front of an audience? Try it out at the puppet slam! A safe, fun, inclusive place for puppeteers to gather and play. This short form, all puppet evening is looking for puppeteers who have a short form puppet centric presentation to share with an audience.

In the spirit of classic slams, this evening will be uncurated and puppet acts will participate based on order of application. 8-10 presenters (with a possible alternate) will be notified as they come in. Artists who apply but don’t make the cut off will be notified in advance of future slams.
To apply email vipfestpuppetslam@gmail.com with your name and contact info, the number of people in your group, and the length of your act. Acts should be between 5 and 8 minutes, and be over 70% puppet.  

There will be virtually no tech (i.e. if you need music, we encourage you to bring your own boom box but let us know of your needs and we will do our best to accommodate). Your act can be about anything. Please be aware, VIPF is FIRMLY and INSISTENTLY anti-racist and pro LGBTQ+.  

After costs, Ticket proceeds will be split between the 8 acts and the host.
 

Submission Requirements:

-An original puppetry piece* (3-8 minutes - not set in stone)

-A new creation, never before performed or seen.
